Lic. Agustín Lorenzo
(Montevideo, Uruguay, 1991)
Born in Uruguay and raised abroad, Agustín Lorenzo has been creating videos since the mid-2000s. While attending university, he founded his own audiovisual production company and taught filmmaking to young people in the city of Piriápolis. He earned his degree in Audiovisual Media from the University of the Republic (UdelaR) and has since contributed to over 30 university short films, more than 40 music videos, three television programs, and seven feature films.
Lorenzo wrote and directed his first fictional feature film, Auténtico, which was featured in several film cycles and is now available for streaming on Cinemateca+. Together with historian Gastón Goicoechea, he co-created Febrero Amargo, a documentary about the 1973 Uruguayan coup d’état. The film, supported by multiple public grants, participated in numerous festivals, including Monfic, the Punta del Este Film Festival, and Detour, all as part of their Official Selections. It received critical and public acclaim for its historical objectivity and non-partisan perspective.
Today, Agustín dedicates himself to voluntary collaborations with other filmmakers in the audiovisual community, producing TV commercials and corporate videos. He is also deeply involved in creating numerous nonprofit projects that focus on animal and social welfare.
